As described in our last post, our team conducted speed dating research with four members of the pairing staff at Pandemic Professors. From this research, we uncovered several insights, with two key findings detailed below:

Pairing Meeting Part 2

We kicked off Sprint 2 with a second meeting with the pairing staff. Previously, we had met with pairers to discuss the technical factors behind the pairing process. Now, we wanted to learn more about the personal factors related to pairing.

  • Families & children become unresponsive
  • Tutors become unresponsive

Kick-off Meeting: Day 1 Follow-up

Stakeholder Mapping

During our first kickoff meeting, our team led a Stakeholder Mapping session with Pandemic Professors. We gained a better understanding of:

  • How Pandemic Professors is structured as an organization
  • Which stakeholders are involved in the student-tutor pairing process.
  • How and why certain groups interact with each other to gain a better understanding of every group involved with the success and flow of the organization, and how they are connected.

Project Background

The Goal

Our team was formed at the end of January 2021 to begin a project with Pandemic Professors, a non-profit organization that provides tutoring services to low-income students who have been affected academically as a result of the pandemic.

As a team, our main goal is to provide value for Pandemic Professors by developing solutions to improve their service and serve more students in need. Along the way, we hope to increase our experience in user research, design, and become more comfortable working with an external client.
